The initial response to notifications sent about the website from people on the waiting list for years has been encouraging with a little coincidence thrown in for good measure:
“This is an amazing synchronicity. Literally a few days ago I mentioned to a friend the original Shadow cards, of which I have kept a couple of decks . . . I will go to the website and have a look!”
Upon creating the Shadow Cards, and witnessing remarkable combinations, I made assumptions about their significance and what the impactful experiences indicated for people in different situations. Now, I understand that the significance is what we make of it, like beauty or wisdom or cherishing those close to us. Am I jaded to a degree? Perhaps, but I look at it more as letting the unconscious shed light on relevance one way or another rather than trying to project hopeful or biased wishes onto the future. This seems a common enough attribute of humans but it can muddle the more fundamental task of building a partnership with the unconscious. Ultimately, we’re all faced with the prospect of whether we can let ourselves be fed by a broader perspective rather than just the narrow confines of our identity. In other words, if we identify with the unconscious, we give ourselves the best chance of fulfillment and vitality. What does that identification look like? Well, consistency for one thing. Where are we consistent and where are we not and what do we avoid by being inconsistent.
Therefore, I decided to provide an on going demonstration of how I interpret Keen Outlook cards when using them for rumination. For now, these “Rumination Posts” will be periodic and starting off I pulled a card on, what else, launching the website. The word was POSITIVE with the picture of raising the red flag.
My first reaction was to laugh. Did I forget to mention being nervous about raising funds for printing the cards? Naturally, there’s also a red flag about being too optimistic. The feedback has been positive so far but progress won’t happen as fast as desired. However, paying attention to red flags will be crucial from here on out. Most importantly, seeing and heeding red flags is a positive choice and leads to positive outcomes.
